I am not sure I can follow Exercise 6-4 and Exercise 6-5 correctly.
What am I doing wrong?

Due to recent changes in Power Query, an extra step of Promoted Headers is added when you import name ranges or worksheets. As a result, exercises 6-4 and 6-5 you should delete the last two steps in Applied Steps right after you import the Revenues named range.
Here are the recommended changes in the book:

Step 5. In the Power Query Editor that opens, notice that the Preview pane contains Wide World Importers’ revenues by year, month, supplier category, and supplier, as illustrated in the top table of Figure 6-6. Delete the last two steps, Promoted Headers and Changed Types in Applied Steps.

Step 4: In the Navigator dialog box, select Revenues and then select Edit. In the Power Query Editor that opens, notice that the Preview pane contains the AdventureWorks revenues, as shown in the top table in Figure 6-7. Delete the last two steps, Promoted Headers and Changed Types in Applied Steps.
