Have you ever wondered how users engage with your Power BI reports? Where do they click? What do they ignore? Heatmaps are one of the most powerful tools to uncover these insights, giving you a visual story of user behavior. They don’t just tell you what’s working—they spotlight what’s not, helping you make data-driven improvements that elevate your analytics user experience.

At BI Pixie, we’ve been working hard to help you maximize your investments in Power BI and Fabric and optimize the experience of your dashboards. Today, I’m thrilled to introduce our latest innovation: the Visual Clicks Heatmap. Analyzing the efficiency of your Power BI reports is now possible in a completely new level.

By default, BI Pixie can identify click events of end-users as they interact with the visuals. However, with the activation of this feature, BI Pixie can map clicks and data selection events to individual visuals.

When you activate the heatmap, BI Pixie collects all the positions of the visuals in the instrumented reports. The visuals will be shown in the heatmap and their positions will be marked in dashed white lines.

When end-users click on the visuals, BI Pixie tracks the clicks, and the data that is selected by the end users. The heatmap displays the count of clicks in the heatmap from the lowest count of clicks in purple to the highest count of clicks in red.

When you hover over a specific visual in the heatmap, the tooltip shows the number of clicks and the dimensional data that was selected.

To learn how to activate this feature go to this article in BI Pixie user guide.

At BI Pixie, we’re on a mission to empower Power BI users with tools that deliver actionable insights. The Visual Clicks Heatmap release is just one example of the unique value we aim to bring every day. Try it out, and let us know what you think. Your feedback keeps us growing????
