After a transformative journey over the past three years working at AWS, I'm excited to announce that I'm back at DataChant. My time at AWS was filled with learning and growth, and finally, I can share some personal updates with you and introduce to you a game-changer product. Remember it please: BI Pixie.

Main Takeaways from My Time at AWS

During my first year at AWS, I had the privilege of serving as a global practice lead for Amazon QuickSight in the Professional Services team. This role provided a unique opportunity to work closely with customers, helping them unlock the power of data visualization and analytics. A year later, I transitioned to product management, a role that broadened my perspective on the BI industry and the broader Data & AI domains.

One of the most profound lessons I learned at AWS was that it’s not the tool (e.g., Power BI), but the people who use it that matters. This realization has deeply influenced my approach to consulting and our industry.

But something was missing... Throughout my time at AWS, I found myself longing for the creative freedom and the sense of community I once enjoyed as a blogger and a Microsoft MVP. I missed the ability to create and share knowledge on my own terms. I also missed the direct interactions with customers and the thrill to build solutions together with them. This longing has strengthened my resolve to leave AWS and be back here. I plan to continue sharing insights, tips, and solutions with all of you. The journey has endowed me with new skills and perspectives that I'm eager to pass on.

The Birth of BI Pixie

Five years ago, I conceived an idea called Power BI Pixel, which aimed to track user activity in Power BI in a novel way. Fast forward to today, with the advent of Power BI Projects, Git integration, and a revitalized set of software engineering skills—thanks to tools like GitHub Copilot and ChatGPT—I decided to transform this concept into something much larger. For the first time, leaders in organizations, can finally get the keys to unlock their large investments in Power BI to an effective powerhouse of insights.

I’m thrilled to introduce BI Pixie. This innovative solution is designed to track and analyze the usage, interactions, and engagement of your Power BI audience. BI Pixie offers unprecedented insights into user adoption, attrition, and time-intelligent engagement metrics. It helps you understand the effectiveness of your BI portfolio, improve mission-critical reports, and measure the return on your Power BI investments. It’s a comprehensive tool that promises to elevate your Power BI experience to new heights.

Transition to DataChant Consulting

I founded DataChant as a Power BI blog (DataChant.com) in early 2016. Since then, it has evolved into a boutique consulting firm. We have become a Microsoft Cloud Partner, that offer consulting services and training that are designed to accelerate your journey in Data & AI.

Before introducing BI Pixie, we published ten popular Power BI Apps on Microsoft AppSource, boasting 1.5K monthly active installers. These apps encompass data quality automation tools and marketing analytics for users of Mailchimp and ActiveCampaign. The development of these apps laid the foundation for our new ventures to BI Pixie.

With BI Pixie’s ability to provide deep insights into your BI audience and measure the effectiveness of your BI portfolio, we offer supplementary services, including report optimization, migration planning and strategy. If you require further assistance beyond our capacity, we can help you select the right partners and assist you with guidance and oversight.

Thank you for being part of this incredible journey. Stay tuned for more updates, and let's continue this adventure together!
